About

GALLERY J. ONE was founded in October 2008 by Director Esther Jeong in Bongsan Culture Street, Daegu. Since its inception, the gallery has been committed to surveying the flow of Korean contemporary art and expanding the artistic vision of contemporary artists.

With a primary focus on discovering emerging talents and vitalizing contemporary art, the gallery has broadened the foundation of Korean art through continuous curatorial exhibitions and international exchange. It also fosters close communication between art and the public by presenting regular exhibition programs and citizen-participatory cultural projects.

In 2025, the gallery expanded to a new location in Bukchon, Seoul, further broadening its scope. Building upon the historical and cultural foundation of Daegu, the Seoul branch adds a global network, positioning the gallery as a platform that connects artists and audiences both domestically and internationally.

Moving forward, GALLERY J. ONE will continue to explore the essence of art, support creative practices that reflect the spirit of the times, and serve as a space that presents new possibilities for Korean contemporary art, bridging regions and the world.

GALLERY J. ONE은 2008년 10월, 정에스더 대표가 대구 봉산문화거리에 개관하여 한국 현대미술의 흐름을 조망하며 동시대 작가들의 예술적 비전을 확장하는 데 주력해왔습니다.

신진 작가 발굴과 동시대 미술의 활성화를 주요 목표로 삼아, 지속적인 기획 전시와 국제적인 교류를 통해 한국 미술의 저변을 넓히고 있습니다. 또한 정기적인 전시 프로그램과 시민 참여형 문화 프로젝트를 운영하며, 미술과 대중이 긴밀하게 소통할 수 있는 환경을 조성해왔습니다.

2025년에는 서울 북촌에 새로운 지점을 열며 활동의 지평을 한층 넓혔습니다. 대구가 지닌 지역성과 역사 위에, 서울을 중심으로 한 글로벌 네트워크를 더해 국내외 작가와 관객을 연결하는 플랫폼으로 자리매김하고 있습니다.
